B-4 Implementation of 3-MANET
Mobile Ad-hoc Network
We have already implemented the landmark routing protocol with the weighted distributed hash table in multiple laptops.  In this project, we will implement it in Gumstix.

B-5 Evaluation of P2P-Networks
Peer-to-Peer-Networks Experimental Evaulation of new Network Coding based Peer-to-Peer-Networks

Offline Garbage Collection for Embedded Systems
Embedded Systems Programming, JVM, Java/C
JVM like TakaTuka and Squawk are based on Split VM architecture. Our goal is to use this architecture for getting garbage collection information during linking phase. So that the memory and CPU requirements for garbage collection during program’s execution could be reduced.

B-8
JVM Interpreter
Embedded Systems Programming, JVM, Java/C
We have developed a Java bytecode interpreter for our JVM TakaTuka. The goal of this project is to improve and redesign the existing interpreter with the aim of fast execution speed and low memory requirement.

B-9
Native Java calls to NesC
Embedded Systems Programming, JVM, Java/C Java has native method support for C functions. We will to extend this support in our JVM TakaTuka to NesC function. NesC is a language which generates C code.

M-2
File Area Networks over the Internet
Storage Area Networks
In the future you will only access your date from distributed hard disks in the Internet without any central control. Within this master thesis we will continue the development of such system which can live with unaccessible computers. Christian Schindelhauer Arne Vater
M-3
Simulation of 3-MANET
Mobile Ad-hoc Networks
We are developing a new landmark and distributed hash table based Mobile Ad-Hoc Network. The goal is to evaluate the quality of this new approach using empirical simulation.
Chia Ching Ooi, Arne Vater Chia Ching Ooi
M-4  Topology Control for Peer-to-Peer-Networks  Peer-to-Peer-Networks Given a Peer-to-Peer-Network with Peers with unknown locations in a metric space the task is to find and test simple local distributed algorithms that maintain connection graphs with small degree and small stretch factors. Arne Vater Arne Vater

Project B7, B8 and B9
Embedded Systems Programming, JVM, Java/C The above mentioned project (B7, B8 and B9) for Bachelor students are also avilable for a Master thesis. However, their scope will be larger. For more details contact us.
