Design and Implementation of a Management Server for Time of Arrival Based Localization

Mr. Daniel Schauenberg (Master Thesis)

Abstract

In this thesis a server system for time of arrival based localization was designed and developed. The system was designed for the existing mobile sound based localization application of the chair of computer networks at university of Freiburg. The system serves as a central storage and calculation point for the mobile devices and also offers a way to view results directly on a web page.

As a first step the requirements are analyzed and an abstract high level design of this system is introduced. After that the deployed technologies for each component and their implementation is discussed.

The result of this project is a working server system, which employs the current state of the art technolgies for data storage, concurrency and scalability management and data visualization.

In the last part the presented solution is discussed as well as an outlook is given, which parts can be improved in future work.
